We started off class by listing to the take a minute video after, the video ends Ms. Nakada ask's the class to find a poem to read next, Andrew picks "The Eagle" by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. Then, Ms. Nakada ask someone to read the poem Cole volunteers and Deshon. Afterwards, Ms. Nakada walks around checking binder reminders as we do the week 15 Quiz. After, most of the class finishes the quiz Ms. Nakada tells us to finish typing our poems. We pack up and the bell rings.

HW: Read & write a poem a day/ iReady 26 lessons

I made my way up from room 109 hauling all of the things I'd carried down for fifth period. My sixth period students came into class, sat down, and took out our binder reminders to write the agenda down. 

Alriel read her blog, and then she picked me. 

After that, we read a poem called "I'm Going Back to Minnesota Where Sadness Make Sense" by Danez Smith. We talked about the ways the mood and weather are connected and the colloquial language in the poem. 

We wrote it down as our lines for this week and recorded it as a poem read. 

Then, we wrote a poem for Day 23 of NaPoWriMo.  We worked on revising poems, and then, we packed up and left for a bonus day off!

We started off class with our take a minute video with Dora. Then, we shared our thoughts about computer adaptive tests, and what they reveal and not reveal. After, the class read a poem called "Self-Portrait With Woman On The Subway" by Hayan Charara. The poem was about a woman on the subway crying, and the speaker wishing that they had said something to comfort her. Some time later, we wrote our poems for National Poetry Writing Month. We then began writing about poem revision in our notebook. Then, at the end of class, we packed up our things then waited for the bell.

Read/write a poem a day

We started off by doing take a minute. We watched a video of Dora asking people on the street to meditate for a minute. Next we did the song for the GQQSL which was "King of Pain" by The Police. We wrote what we thought the song was about and then chose our favorite lyric. Then, we did our NaPoWriMo. We read "miss rosie" by Lucille Clifton. When we finished, Ms. Nakada set at timer for three minutes to write our poems. When the timer went off, we switched over to preparing for the open house and chose what we wanted to display. When we were finished, Ms. Nakada told us the bell was about to ring so we all packed up. Then the bell rang, and we finished turning in our stuff so we could leave.

We started off the day by sitting down in out seats and writing the Agenda. Issac came up and read his Blog. After Ms. Nakada corrected it, we reviewed what we did yesterday. We then went in to our English books and went over the Question, "How can you develop mental toughness?" After, we read our daily poem, "Moments" by Mary Oliver. Next, we started to do our poem revising for NaPoWriMo. Kat and Will both then showed the class their poems, which I personally thought were great. We then packed up an ended the day.

HW Read/Write a poem a day!

We started out with the take a minute video about how just taking three deep breaths can help a lot. Then, James shared his blog, and I got picked for the next one. Soon after, we got to work on our week 14 Grammar, Quote, Question, Song, and Lines. 

Grammar: lyric poem- musical, single voice, one central idea
monologue: lengthy speech by one character
meter: rhythm, beat, weighted syllables

Then, we got into reading a poem called "Tired" by Langston Hughes. Later, we got into writing our poem for the day. Then, Ms. Nakada counted how many poems we have. Then, the day ended.

We started off the day by taking a minute, then for another minute we talked about what the take a minute meant about the trees. After the take minute, we went into the poem, "Los Angeles" by Kamau Daáood. Once we finished we, talked about it and went into our reading journals for 13.3. Once we finished the reading journal, we went to NaPoWriMo and wrote a poem. Only Will went up to present his poem. After that, we went into the week 13 quiz. After finishing, Ms. Nakada asked us to highlight one piece of work from this school year and submit it on Schoology. Once finished, we packed up and got ready to go.
