Creat-ober Day 14/Check RJ

Week 10: G-Q-Q-S

Quick Write #3/SLC letters

HW RJ 10.1 Finish T.O. or iReady or I.R.P. book.

To begin class, we sat down and wrote the agenda in our binder reminders. We then did our Creat-obers, I did Face-tober, where the prompt was: daisies, long hair, and picnic. Afterwards, we took out our English notebooks and began week ten G-Q-Q-S. Our grammar lesson was on point of view. Then, we read An Emerson Land Acknowledgement and moved on to our quote: "It does not require many words to speak the truth." by Chief Joseph. After we discussed some of our personal reflections on the quote, we were asked the question: is it offensive to use Native Americans as team mascots? We talked about it for a little, wrote down our answers, and finally packed up and waited for Ms. Nakada to dismiss us.

To begin class, we wrote the daily agenda in our binder reminders. Next, Olivia read her blog and there were no corrections. Afterwards, we started Create-ober and people shared their drawings to the class. Then, we started our third quick write about School Trip as Ms. Nakada went around the class grading our reading journals. Once we were done, Ms. Nakada handed out folders and people passed out work from the past ten weeks. Lastly, we packed up and waited to be dismissed.

The Outsiders

SCHOOL TRIP PROMPTS

HW : RJ 9.3 T.O. Ch. 12

We started our day like we usually do by writing down the agenda in our binder reminders. Once we were done writing, we listened to Alriel's blog, and there were no corrections. We earned our tenth point and decided to have pizza on Tuesday. I was chosen to write the blog next. Afterwards, we all began on our Create-ober pieces. I did face-tober, and my prompts were pixie cut, rosy cheeks, and stripes. After a few minutes, we turned to our notes about The Outsiders. We talked about chapter nine and ten, and assessed everything that happened. We also discussed what it meant to be an unreliable narrator. Once we were done with The Outsiders, we transitioned into our prompts for banned books and School Trip. We glued some prompts into our books that Ms. Nakada passed out and chose one from each slip of paper to write about. As the day ended, we all packed our things, waited for the bell to ring, and Ms. Nakada dismissed us all.

Week 9 song

Reader's workshop

HW: RJ 9.2 The Outsiders chapter 10-11

We started off the class by writing in our binder reminders then getting started on our Create-tober. A few people shared, and then we listened to our song for the week: "Blue Jeans & White T-shirts" by Gaslight Anthem. We shared our thoughts about the song and later found out the song seemed to be based around the 1960's, kind of like in The Outsiders. Then, we discussed chapter 9 of The Outsiders, and in that in the beginning of the chapter, Pony asks everybody why they fought and turns out most of the reasons weren't very good. After, since it was a short day, we packed our things and headed out for the day.

I went for a walk and when I came back the class was doing grammar. We learned about adjectives and adverbs. We discussed a quote by A. Huxley, a British writer.

"Experience is not what happens to you; it's what you do with what happens to you."

Then, we talked about what parents should do when you get a bad report card.

Ms. Nakada told us to pack up and that was the end of the day.
