Ten Year Planning ~ Last Letters

HW Complete IRP! SLAM PREP

Set goals for summer

First, we started off class with the take a minute video and did our agenda. Then, we started on the blog, which Eliora and Vianney did together. Once they were finished, they chose the wheel and picked a couple of people including me, I was surprisingly picked. Ms. Nakada brought up her phone and her losing it, but Janelle helped and found it for her. After all that, we mainly worked on our ten year plans for the rest of the class and wrote a letter to ourselves in the future during our senior year. Lastly, Ms.Nakada forgot to get the teams together but the bell rang.

            Set goals for summer~

We started off class by sitting down and writing down the agenda. Afterwards, Deshon read his blog and decided to do a wheel. Since it was just me and Eliora left, we decided to do it together. We got settled in the front because the blog computer was running out of battery only to find out Ms. Nakada’s charger was missing. Thankfully, Jojo and Triston were kind enough to let us borrow a charger. (Eliora) We were handed out the ten year plan sheets. After, Ms. Nakada left to interview a person who applied for Mr. Hastings position. We worked on our ten year plan sheets the rest of the period, also by the time you all are reading this we have 1 week and six days left here enjoy it people. 1 minute before the bell rang people packed up, and when the bell rang people rushed out the door.

O.O.'s due Wednesday!

To begin class, we all sat down and wrote the agenda while Ms. Nakada played the take a minute video. Once the video ended, she passed out the field trip slips, and talked about our schedule for the rest of the school year. Next, Mason read his blog, chose to do a wheel, and I got chosen. Then, we took out our English notebooks and started our new grammar, which was about frequently misused words. Our quote was by Jesse Owens, an American Olympian sprinter who talked about the importance of relationships over competitive victories. After we discussed the quote, we transitioned into the poetry slam, or if you were finished, our original oratories. Once we worked for a bit, we packed up and got dismissed by Ms. Nakada.

We started off the period by going to our seats and writing the agenda while listening to the take a minute. This week's take a minute was about never over-complicating situations in your head. After the short video, we got our Chromebooks out to select the final four book bracket. Once we finished voting, we cleared off our desks to prepare for our poetry collection and broadside gallery walk. The printer wasn't working, so Ms. Nakada postponed the gallery walk to Wednesday. Because of that, we spent the rest of the time working on our poems that we will perform in class later this week. Lastly, the end of the period neared and we waited to be dismissed.

Materials were passed as I started to type this.  Everyone seemed focused. We didn't get to present our poems, but we will be ready when we do.

Poetry Submissions

HW - R.J  17.2

We started off our short Tuesday class with watching our take a minute video. Will read his blog, and then spun a wheel which landed on me. I decided to do a duo blog with Hunter. After, we started getting to work on our Week 17 Grammar Quote Question Lines. Since we already did the Grammar and Quote yesterday, we worked on the question for this week. Who do you look to for understanding the difference between right and wrong? Will said that he looks to himself, and Ms. Nakada said that John Wooden taught her a lot. Next, we discussed with a person at our table what we responded. Soon after, we discussed what the format would be for our poetry slam, and we watched a group preform their poem called "Trumpets". We then talked about what we are going to do for the poetry slam, then we continued working on our poetry submissions. Finally the day was closing out and Ms. Nakada had us stand behind our chairs, and we left.

-------------------------------------------

Today, we entered the classroom in new seats, a welcome surprise to some, to others not so much. Then, Richard read his blog to the class, with blazing speed and high accuracy. Then, like a friend, he chose me. I was indignant about this cruel twist, but I thought better of saying certain things I was thinking out loud. Soon after, the class wrote in their notebooks about poetry structure. Moments later, we went to the quote by Fred Korematsu which was "If you have the feeling something is wrong, don't be afraid to speak up."  Afterwards, we went to doing poetry submissions and worked until nearly the end of the day. Lastly, we put our chairs up, and left.
